Opinions on Jan in Venice weather (dawn sunset shoots)

Hi. Question about the weather. I have to opportunity to go to Venice in January to do some photography (meaning daily hours shooting at dawn and sunset).

Anyone with experience in this area that can talk me into it or talk me out of it? I live in the US the East Coast, not a great fan of the cold but don't want to miss an opportunity but also don't want to be miserable for 10 days.
