Are colgate max white overnight good for teeth whitening ?

I bought it a while ago but never knew how to use it. Came with the uv thing and it looked counter productive. I apply the thing, bite on the uv thing and then it scrapes off. Plus, there wasn't any notice. It says there's hydrogen peroxyde in it, is the whitening permanent ? Thanks
