I left my engineering career in Canada and moved to India to build an organic kidswear brand. Now preparing to bring it back home.

Hey everyone, been lurking here forever and finally feel like im at a point where i can share my story

about 2 years ago my daughter started getting skin reactions from regular clothes. nothing scary but enough that i started researching what actually goes into kids clothing. formaldehyde finishes, azo dyes, heavy metals.. all totally legal and in most of what our kids wear daily

i had a stable engineering management career in canada. good salary. comfortable life. but once i saw what was touching my daughters skin every day i couldnt just move on and buy a different brand. most “organic” options were either crazy expensive or just marketing fluff with no real certification behind them

so i did the thing everyone told me not to do. moved to india, set up in tirupur which is the garment manufacturing hub, and started building an organic kidswear brand from scratch. GOTS certified facility, clean cotton, no nasties. ages 2-6

it took 11 months and 100+ manufacturer rejections before i found the right partner. zero garment industry experience. just an engineer who became a parent and couldnt look the other way

that was the hard part. manufacturing is now sorted. supply chain is solid. i already launched in india earlier this year and its been the best learning experience i could ask for. now im preparing to launch in canada and if everything goes per plan it should be mid june

feels like the most full circle thing ever. left canada to build this. now bringing it back home

im not here to pitch anything. just a first time founder figuring it out in real time. now feels like the right time to start sharing this journey and more importantly learn from this community

if youve built a consumer brand or especially a kids brand id love to hear what you wish you knew earlier. happy to answer anything about manufacturing in india or the organic certification world because that was a whole education in itself
